Chris Tomlin - Love Ran Red (Album Review)

Chris Tomlin - Love Ran Red (Album Review)

Christian songs are generally divided into two huge categories. There's a category where that particular song can be brought in a church thus being sung together in a service. This category usually contains of adoration words in the lyrics. The other one is where the song will just be there in your music player device. It can't be sung in a church because the story behind is not generic enough for everybody.

Chris Tomlin is one songwriter that specialized in creating songs that generic enough to be sung by everybody. His quality is once again proven with his 10th album, Love Ran Red. Released on October 27th, 2014, this album features work from other famous songwriters such as Matt Redman and Jason Ingram.

Lindsay McCaul - One More Step (Album Review)

Lindsay McCaul - One More Step (Album Review)

I love Christian Music, but I hate the lack of creativity put in most Christian Contemporary Music. That’s why when I finish listening to Lindsay McCaul’s latest album, I was able to get my excitement again in this genre.

One More Step is Lindsay’s latest album and her first full-length studio album. One More Step is released worldwide in August 19th, 2014. It has 11 songs that co-written by Lindsay herself, with its hit song entitled the same with the album, One More Step.

This is Our Time by Planetshakers (Album Review)

This is Our Time by Planetshakers (Album Review)

I'm quite surprised at the lineup album for this week releases. It has Chris TomlinToby MacNewsboys, and the most surprising is Planetshakers. Yep, usually Planetshakers is releasing their album once every year. But this time, their latest album This is our Time, is released in the same year as their previous one, Endless Praise

This Is Our Time released on Oct 7, 2014 and is their 30th album (not including two compilation albums). The album itself has so much positive feedbacks and for a moment topped the U.S iTunes chart in Christian & Gospel genre.

In this 30th album, for the first time ever, the band collaborated with the Gospel legend, Israel Houghton. Both of them worked on some of the worship songs, CoveredStronger Than a Thousand Seas, and The Water Is Rising.

The Undoing by Steffany Gretzinger - A Passionate Worship and Praying Album Review

The Undoing by Steffany Gretzinger - A Passionate Worship and Praying Album Review

Bethel Music has long been one of my favorite worship team in Christian Music industry. I've followed them since their TIDES and You Make Me Brave that just been released this year. Both of the album has been such a blessing for us, as a Christian individual that want to be a better person towards God.

One of my favorite female singer in Bethel Music beside Amanda Cook is Steffany Gretzinger. She has such a unique voice that can be distinguished even from mainstream singers. This unique voice has just released her first ever album in August 25th, 2014.

The album titled with The Undoing, trying to state that our lives are still under ongoing process until one time we meet face to face with God. During this process, we as Christians will have to remove all temporary worldly things from us. All of those things have to be removed until the eternal thing that God has brought to us when we were born is actually coming out.

The album consists of 11 tracks, all of them are written by Steffany. Some of the songs were co-written with another favorite singer of mine in Bethel Music, Amanda Cook, not to mention other amazing writers like Kyle Lee, Lauren Lee Gruber, Phillip LaRue, Gabriel Wilson, Nate Ward, and Maggie Ritchie.

Initial Thought

I love the moment when Stefanny sings a worship song. But in this album, I was given a chance to listen to her singing a faster tempo song. To be honest, I don't really enjoy the moment as much as when Stefanny sings a worship song. Her atmospheric voices which is her strong point aren't able to be shown when she sang a faster tempo song.

Oxygen by Lincoln Brewster - Legendary Christian Guitarist Album Review

Oxygen by Lincoln Brewster - Legendary Christian Guitarist Album Review

Lincoln Brewster has long been known as a leader in Contemporary Christian Music industry. His notable songs such as Everlasting God or Today is the Day have been really popular in many churches across the world.

Released in July 22nd, 2014, this long awaited album has finally reached the public. Oxygen, the ninth studio album was coming with all new 11 songs and 10 of them were co-written by Brewster himself.

Despite the hard time, Brewster still finished recording the whole album. He said in an interview that he was nearly torn apart after his wife was diagnosed with a rare cancer.

Initial Thought

I have heard Brewster's album several times, but this is the first time for me to buy the whole album and listen to it as an entity. After listen the whole album, I can tell that this album has more modern feeling in contemporary music.

Anchor by Colton Dixon - American Idol Pop Rock Album Review

Another great batch of release in Christian Music industry is coming this week. Lincoln Brewster, Michelle Williams, Selah, Jars of Clay, Amy Grant, Family Force 5, and still many more. One of them is a great artist that placed seventh in eleventh season of American Idol. Yes, he is Colton Dixon who released his second album, Anchor.

Coming with a Christian pop rock genre, Anchor released publicly at August 19, 2014 at iTunes. It was placed at #1 spot in iTunes Christian & Gospel category and reach #14 spot in iTunes all category music.

In Anchor, Colt co-wrote his songs with famous songwriters and artists such as Matthew West, TobyMac, Trevor McNevan, Ben Glover and Matt Bronleewe. The winner of "Best Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year" at 2013 Dove Awards said that Anchor was more of a series of personal collections, finding stability and trying to balance the ups and downs.

Initial Thought

With Chris Daughtry as his favorite male singer, it's not surprising listening to Colton's music style. There're lots of pop rock music coming throughout this album, so it's instantly pumping my head when I listened to it.
